Overview

The Maternity Pay Calculator estimates maternity leave benefits under Korea's Labor Standards Act and Employment Insurance Act. Maternity leave is 90 days (120 for multiple births). For priority-support companies, all 90 days are covered by employment insurance (capped at KRW 2.1M/month). For large companies, the first 60 days are employer-paid and the remaining 30 days are insured.

Formula

Maternity Pay = Based on ordinary wage

• Priority-support companies: Full 90 days (120 for multiples) from employment insurance (cap KRW 2.1M/month)
• Large companies: First 60 days (75 for multiples) employer-paid at 100% ordinary wage; remaining 30 days (45 for multiples) from insurance (cap KRW 2.1M/month)
• Spousal birth leave: 10 days paid (employer-funded)

Tips

  • Leave can start up to 45 days before the due date, but at least 45 days must be taken after delivery.
  • Miscarriage or stillbirth also qualifies for maternity leave based on pregnancy duration.
  • Spousal birth leave (10 days) must be used within 90 days of the birth.
