Overview

The Annual Leave Pay Calculator computes compensation for unused annual paid leave under Korea's Labor Standards Act (Article 60). It multiplies the daily ordinary wage by unused leave days, and also shows the statutory leave entitlement based on years of service.

Formula

Annual Leave Pay = Daily Ordinary Wage × Unused Leave Days

• Daily Ordinary Wage = Monthly Ordinary Wage ÷ Monthly working days (or ÷ 209 × 8)
• Leave entitlement:
  - Under 1 year: 1 day per month of perfect attendance (max 11 days)
  - 1+ years: 15 days + 1 additional day every 2 years (max 25 days)
  - Year 3: 16 days, Year 5: 17 days … Year 21+: 25 days

Tips

  • Unused leave expires after 1 year, and the employer must compensate for unused days.

Q. How many annual leave days am I entitled to?

In the first year, you earn 1 day per month of perfect attendance (max 11). After 1 year, you receive 15 days. An additional day is added every 2 years, up to a maximum of 25 days.

Q. What is the leave promotion system?

The employer notifies employees in writing to designate leave usage dates. If the employee still does not use leave after proper notification, the employer's obligation to pay for unused leave is waived.
