Overview

The Dividend Yield Calculator computes the return from stock dividends relative to the share price. Enter the stock price, dividend per share, and number of shares to see the yield percentage and after-tax dividend income for your portfolio.

Formula

Dividend Yield (%) = (Dividend per Share / Current Price) × 100. Total Dividends = Dividend per Share × Number of Shares. After-tax Dividends = Total Dividends × (1 - 15.4% tax rate).

How to Use

  1. 1Enter the current stock price (or purchase price).
  2. 2Enter the annual dividend per share.
  3. 3Enter the number of shares held.
  4. 4Select the tax type (standard 15.4%, separate taxation, etc.).
  5. 5Click Calculate to view the dividend yield and after-tax income.

Tips

  • Look beyond yield — check the payout ratio and dividend sustainability before investing.
  • In Korea, financial income exceeding KRW 20 million annually triggers comprehensive taxation at higher rates.
  • Dividend growth stocks may have lower current yields but can deliver superior returns over time as dividends increase each year.

FAQ

Q. What is the dividend income tax rate?

Dividend income is taxed at 15.4% (14% income tax + 1.4% local tax) at source. If total financial income exceeds KRW 20 million annually, it is added to comprehensive income and taxed at progressive rates of 6–45%.

Q. What is the ex-dividend date?

The ex-dividend date is the first trading day after the record date. To receive a dividend, you must own the stock by the record date (typically two business days before the last trading day of December for calendar-year companies).

Q. Is a high dividend yield always a good investment?

Not necessarily. A high yield may result from a sharp stock price decline or a one-time special dividend. Always evaluate the company's financial health, dividend sustainability, and growth prospects alongside the yield figure.
