Overview

The Subject Grade Average Calculator computes your overall credit-weighted grade average from each subject's rank grade and credit units — the standard method Korean universities use to quantify high school records in grade-based admissions. It sums grade × credit units across subjects and divides by total units, supporting both the legacy 9-tier system (current 2nd/3rd-year students) and the 5-tier system applied from 2025 first-year students. Add or remove subjects freely to check semester or cumulative averages.

Formula

Average Grade = Σ(Subject Grade × Credit Units) ÷ Σ(Credit Units)

Example (9-tier):
Korean 2×4 + Math 1×4 + English 2×4 + Social Studies 3×3
= (8 + 4 + 8 + 9) ÷ 15 = 29 ÷ 15 = 1.93

How to Use

1. 1Select the grading system (9-tier, or 5-tier for students entering from 2025).
2. 2Enter each subject's name, credit units (as shown on the report card), and rank grade.
3. 3Use the add button to include as many subjects as needed, or remove rows.
4. 4The credit-weighted average grade is calculated automatically.

Tips

• ✔Subjects with more credit units (core subjects are usually 3–4 units) weigh more heavily, so prioritize grades in high-unit subjects.
• ✔Universities differ in which subjects and year weights they reflect — enter only the subjects a target university actually counts.
• ✔Career-elective subjects receive achievement levels (A/B/C) instead of rank grades and are converted separately by many universities; include only rank-graded subjects here.
• ✔Calculating each semester separately helps you back-solve the target grades needed next term.
