Overview
The Percentile to Grade Calculator converts a percentile score (0–100) from Korea's CSAT or mock exams into the 9-tier relative grade used in Korean education. Your percentile is the share of test-takers who scored below you, and grades are assigned by cumulative ratio: the top 4% earn Grade 1, the top 11% cumulative earn Grade 2, and so on. The calculator also shows your top-percentage standing and how much higher your percentile must be to reach the next grade.

Tips
- ✔Percentile and top-% run in opposite directions — percentile 96 means top 4%. Subtract your percentile from 100 if in doubt.
- ✔At boundary percentiles (96, 89, 77, 60...), your official grade may differ by one tier depending on how tied scores are handled.

Q. What is a percentile score?
Your percentile (0–100) is the proportion of all test-takers who scored below you. A percentile of 85 means 85% of examinees scored lower, placing you in the top 15%.
Q. How are grades derived from percentiles?
The 9-tier system splits by cumulative ratio: the top 4% (percentile 96+) is Grade 1, cumulative 11% (89+) is Grade 2, cumulative 23% (77+) is Grade 3, then 40%, 60%, 77%, 89%, and 96% mark Grades 4–8, with the remainder as Grade 9.
Q. Can my official grade differ from this result?
At boundary percentiles it can. Official grading assigns everyone with the same standard score to the same grade, so when many examinees tie at a cutoff, the result may shift by one tier. Away from the boundaries the conversion matches in most cases.
