Q. Do the Korean History cutoffs change each year?
No. Korean History is absolutely graded with fixed raw-score cutoffs: 40+ for Grade 1, 35+ for Grade 2, then 5-point steps down to 5+ for Grade 8 and below 5 for Grade 9. They stay the same regardless of exam difficulty or the number of examinees.
Q. What happens if I skip the Korean History section?
Korean History has been mandatory since the 2017 CSAT. If you do not take it, your entire CSAT result for that year is voided and no score report is issued, no matter how well you did in other sections.
Q. How do universities use the Korean History grade?
Most apply small bonus points or deductions by grade. Many give full marks down to Grade 3 or 4 and deduct slightly below that, so the practical burden is light — but some universities require taking the section as an eligibility condition, so check each admissions guide.
Q. How is this different from the English absolute grading?
English is scored out of 100 with 10-point grade bands (Grade 1 at 90+), while Korean History is out of 50 with 5-point bands (Grade 1 at 40+). Both are absolute scales, but the maximum score and band widths differ, so use the dedicated calculator for each section.
