Q. How is the CSAT English grade calculated?
It is an absolute scale in 10-point bands out of 100: 90+ is Grade 1, 80–89 is Grade 2, down to Grade 9 below 20 points. Your grade depends solely on your own raw score, not on how other test-takers perform.
Q. Do English grade cutoffs change every year?
No. English cutoffs are fixed at 90/80/70…20 every year. Even in a difficult exam, 90 or above is always Grade 1, and 89 is always Grade 2 — unlike Korean and Math, where cutoffs shift with the score distribution.
Q. Does English have standard scores and percentiles?
No. Absolutely graded subjects (English and Korean History) report only a grade — no standard score or percentile. In regular admissions, universities apply grade-based deductions, bonus points, or converted scores for English.
