Overview
The Overtime Pay Calculator computes premium pay for extended, night, and holiday work under Korea's Labor Standards Act. It applies 50% premium for overtime, 50% for night work (10 PM–6 AM), and 50–100% for holiday work based on the ordinary hourly wage.
Formula
Overtime Pay = Ordinary Hourly Wage × 1.5 × Overtime Hours
Night Work Pay = Ordinary Hourly Wage × 0.5 × Night Hours (22:00–06:00)
Holiday Pay = Ordinary Hourly Wage × 1.5 × Holiday Hours (≤ 8 hrs)
= Ordinary Hourly Wage × 2.0 × Holiday Hours (> 8 hrs)
• Ordinary Hourly Wage = Monthly Ordinary Wage ÷ 209 hours
• Night + Overtime overlap: Ordinary Hourly Wage × 2.0How to Use
- 1Enter your monthly salary (or ordinary hourly wage).
- 2Enter overtime hours, night work hours, and holiday work hours separately.
- 3Click 'Calculate' to see itemized premiums and total overtime pay.

Background
Korea's overtime, night work, and holiday work premium system is based on Article 56 of the Labor Standards Act. Employers must pay at least a 50% premium on ordinary wages for overtime (beyond statutory hours), night work (10 PM–6 AM), and holiday work respectively. The 2018 working hour reform introduced the 52-hour workweek, making overtime management stricter. Workplaces with fewer than 5 employees are exempt from premium pay requirements, and certain positions such as managerial and supervisory roles may also be excluded.
Tips
- ✔Workplaces with fewer than 5 employees are exempt from overtime premium requirements.
- ✔Overtime is capped at 12 hours per week under the Labor Standards Act.
- ✔When night work and overtime overlap, a 100% premium applies (2× ordinary hourly wage).
