Overview
The Grade-Age Calculator determines your current school grade (elementary, middle, high school, or university) and expected enrollment/graduation dates based on your date of birth. It reflects South Korea's March academic year start and compulsory education age.
Formula
Elementary enrollment: The year a child turns 6 (international age), entering in March (for those born Jan 1 – Dec 31 of that year). Grade = Current Year − Enrollment Year + 1.

FAQ
Q. Are January–February birthdays one grade higher?
No. Under the current system, all children born in the same calendar year (January–December) are in the same grade. The older March-based cutoff was changed.
Q. Is enrollment at age 6 mandatory?
In principle, children must enroll in the year they turn 6. However, parents may request a one-year deferral or early enrollment (at age 5).
Q. How are grades from foreign schools converted?
Since foreign academic calendars (e.g., September start) differ from Korea's March start, transfer grades are determined based on the student's age and completed coursework.
