Overview

The Driving Cost Calculator computes total fuel expenses from distance, fuel economy, and fuel price. Use it to budget commuting, road trips, or business travel costs.

Formula

Fuel Cost = (Distance / Fuel Economy) x Fuel Price. Example: 200 km, 12 km/L, gasoline at 1,650 KRW/L → (200 / 12) x 1,650 ≈ 27,500 KRW.

How to Use

  1. 1Enter the driving distance in km.
  2. 2Enter the vehicle's fuel economy in km/L.
  3. 3Enter the current fuel price per liter (check Opinet for live prices).
  4. 4Click 'Calculate' to see the estimated fuel cost.

Tips

  • Search for the cheapest gas station nearby on Opinet (opinet.co.kr).
  • Highway tolls are separate — check them in advance on the Korea Expressway website.
  • Compare driving costs with public transit (KTX, express bus) for long distances.
  • Carpooling splits the cost by the number of passengers.
  • Self-service gas stations are typically 30–60 KRW/L cheaper.

FAQ

Q. How much does it cost to drive from Seoul to Busan?

About 400 km at 12 km/L and 1,650 KRW/L gasoline costs roughly 55,000 KRW in fuel, plus about 25,000 KRW in tolls, totaling around 80,000 KRW.

Q. Is diesel cheaper than gasoline for driving costs?

Diesel has a lower unit price and better fuel economy, but you should also factor in DPF maintenance and other diesel-specific costs.

Q. How does LPG compare?

LPG costs about half the price per liter of gasoline, but its fuel economy is about 70–80% of gasoline, so the actual cost per km is roughly 60–70% of gasoline.
