Overview
The Salary Comparison Calculator places two annual salaries side by side and compares their net take-home pay after deducting social insurance premiums, income tax, and local income tax. It helps with job-change decisions and salary negotiations.
Formula
Monthly Net Pay Difference = Salary B Net Pay − Salary A Net Pay For each salary: • Monthly Net Pay = (Annual Salary ÷ 12) − Social Insurance − Income Tax − Local Income Tax • Annual Net Pay = Monthly Net Pay × 12 • Net Pay Ratio = Annual Net Pay ÷ Annual Salary × 100%
How to Use
- 1Enter your current annual salary (Salary A).
- 2Enter the comparison annual salary (Salary B).
- 3Set dependents and non-taxable items for each.
- 4Click 'Calculate' to see a side-by-side comparison table of net pay.
Tips
- ✔Higher salaries face progressive tax rates, so the net pay ratio decreases as salary increases.
- ✔Different non-taxable allowances (meal, vehicle) can cause different net pay for the same gross salary.
- ✔When changing jobs, compare benefits, pension type, and bonus structure alongside salary.
FAQ
Q. What is the net pay difference between KRW 50M and 60M annual salary?
With one dependent (self), the monthly net pay difference is approximately KRW 600,000–650,000. Progressive tax rates mean a KRW 10M raise does not fully translate to net pay.
Q. Why doesn't my net pay increase as much as my raise?
Income tax uses progressive rates from 6% to 45%. Higher income pushes you into higher marginal tax brackets, and social insurance premiums also increase.
