Overview

The Emission Calculator estimates CO2 and other exhaust emissions based on fuel type, engine displacement, fuel economy, and driving distance. It also maps results to Korea's Ministry of Environment emission grade system (Grades 1–5) and low-emission vehicle standards.

Formula

CO2 Emissions (g) = Fuel Consumed (L) x Emission Factor. Gasoline: 2,310 g/L, Diesel: 2,582 g/L, LPG: 1,868 g/L. Example: 40 L gasoline → 40 x 2,310 = 92,400 g = 92.4 kg CO2.

How to Use

2. 2Enter driving distance (km) and fuel economy (km/L), or enter fuel consumed directly.
3. 3Click 'Calculate' to see CO2 emissions and the corresponding emission grade.

Tips

• ✔Korea's emission grades range from 1 (cleanest) to 5. Grade 5 vehicles may face driving restrictions in Seoul.
• ✔Installing a DPF on a Grade 5 vehicle can upgrade its rating and lift driving restrictions.
• ✔EVs and hydrogen vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions, qualifying for Grade 1.
• ✔Eco-driving (smooth acceleration, steady speed) can noticeably reduce emissions.
• ✔Check your vehicle's emission grade by license plate on the Ministry of Environment website.
